COZY TUFTS
BELOIT, WI
Being from Beloit, Matthew Lindley doesn’t need to travel far for his debut at DEVIATE. Matthew is bringing something totally different to the DEVIATE stage this year with his creative, custom rugs. He started Cozy Tufts as a hobby, but it quickly became a full-time job.
From rugs that rep a city to rugs that look like a slice of pizza or a cartoon character, Cozy Tufts can make just about anything you can think of. Be sure to check them out- you may just be able to win a special one-of-a-kind DEVIATE rug. Support your local rug dealer and be sure to stop by Matthew’s booth on September 28.
Tell us about you.
I was born and raised in Beloit! I lost my father at the age of 12 to suicide, so my mom was both parents for both of my siblings and myself. After I graduated high school, I started working hard on my people skills as a service advisor at integrity working my way to service manager in a few years. After that I pursued a career in cannabis agriculture helping to become a leader technician at ingrown farms. Then a year ago I started having seizures pretty frequently and the doctors told me it was from too much stress. So, I took a step back and analyzed what I was doing and where I was going. My wife and I decided that we should go all in our rug tufting hobby and that’s what we did. Now a year later we are Cozy Tufts making cozy custom rugs that fit anyone’s desire!
What inspires your art?
The expression I get to see when people see my rugs or when they make the connection to what I’m making! It brings me a joy I’ve never felt before!
