GABRIEL KARAGIANIS
Harvard, IL
Gabriel has been painting and making art for over two decades. Most recently, he enjoys taking his art on the road and showing it off to new groups of people, and we think DEVIATE is the perfect place for that. Gabriel’s work is intricate, detailed, sometimes colorful and incorporates unique lines and shapes.
He’s created a wide range of work and has been commissioned by many who love his paintings- some ask for art to be used to decorate a space, while others use Gabriel’s art to celebrate moments, or even process a traumatic event. His talent truly shines through his pieces, and we can’t wait for guests to marvel at what he’ll have on display at this year’s DEVIATE.
Tell us about you.
I've been painting and making art full-time for 20 years. I enjoy working with my hands - painting and building things. Endless gratitude to be able to spend my life exploring the world through the lens of art.
What inspires your art?
People and stories mostly inspire my art. My friends in graffiti crews inspired me to paint during art school. Ancient mysteries and mythology are also threaded through most of my work in some form.
Knowing DEVIATE is an experiential, interactive art event, how do you envision participating and building your booth?
Within the past 5-6 years, I've been creating more public art and live painting. I enjoy engaging with the public about my work. Taking the show on the road is the current mode I'm in. Everything is experimental at the moment, so I believe this would be a great fit.
