Tell us about yourselves.
Gilded Cages is an alternative hard rock band from Rockford. In the last year they’ve opened for several national touring artists including; Saving Abel, Shallow Side, The Black Moods, Messer, Wayland, etc. The band also has shared the stage with some more indie level trendy alt-rock touring artists like; Alborn, Dark Sun, Monrøe, Park National, and Diet Lite. Their resume in the last year includes venues like The Apollo Theatre, Reggie’s Rock Club (Downtown Chicago), the Annex (Madison), Club Liquid (Downtown Madison), The WC social Club (West Chicago), The Rigby (Madison), The Back Bar (Janesville) and more. In 2023 the band was the headliner at one of the biggest Food truck festivals in the mid-west; Rockford Chowdown, as well as a featured performer on the main stage at the Deviate festival in Beloit, Wisconsin (however due to the thunderstorm, the outdoor stage was cancelled). The boys have some momentum behind them as they just released their first full length album on all platforms!
Where do you find the inspiration for your music?
Gilded Cages is best described as a mosaic of sound. Hard rock alternative instrumentals with 70s prog theatrical vocal influence. The newest album “Real and Human” discusses thin line of reality within the world we live today. Humanity is real, humanity is human.
Knowing DEVIATE is an experiential, interactive art event, how do you envision engaging the audience?
We really want to give the Deviate audience what we weren’t able to due to last year's weather. This event encapsulates what our music embodies. Humanity in its purest form, and we’d love to accompany that again. (and for real this time).
How did you find out about DEVIATE and why do you want to be involved?
I know about Deviate this year because the band was a part of it last year. I heard about it through some friends of mine last year that are visual artists, and I had to submit.
