SELLAH STONE
ROCKFORd, IL
Sellah Stone may spend her days working as a saleswoman, but her heart’s passion lies within art. A recent trip to Puerto Rico awakened the creativity inside her, channeling the vibrant colors and lively spirits there into her art.
When she’s not wheeling and dealing, she finds inspiration in many aspects of her life- whether it’s her daughter, God, nature or the stories of strangers she meets. Each one of her works is a tapestry of the energy she absorbs from the world around her. She’ll have some incredible pieces on display this year at DEVIATE. Don’t miss out- grab your tickets and we’ll see you in downtown Beloit on September 28.
Tell us about you.
I’m 30 and have been a saleswoman for 14 years. It’s been such a blessing in so many ways. My passion for sales certainly caters to my masculine energy and it’s something I’ve always truly loved! I’ve been an artist since birth! I think we all are. I just decided to tap back into my artistry on a trip to Puerto Rico in 2020. The art is where I can feed the feminine energy in me and ultimately where I find my balance. Wheeler dealer by day - Hippy, feeler by night. Ha!
I won’t blow you away with my ‘stats’ or likes or views or whatever metrics people measure themselves by now days; we all start somewhere. I just hope to experience this community as it experiences me, and we can inspire each other.
What inspires your art?
Whewwww loaded question! Haha. I’m inspired by God first and foremost. And of course, ‘PERSPECTIVE’ as they go hand in hand. “For, as he thinketh in his heart so is he.” Provers 23:7
I’m inspired by introspection, and growth. I see potential in everyone. I see beauty in everything. All humans are my reflection. I salute the divinity in all whom I encounter.
I am inspired by love. And embracing the things no one wants to talk about and making them beautiful really gets me fired up! Haha!
Knowing DEVIATE is an experiential, interactive art event, how do you envision participating and building your booth?
I envision creating a masterpiece with people. Like, it goes with the way I create any way!!!!!! I make these bodies, and some have all these faces, it can go a lot of ways, but we can play with that concept. I have a few ideas but I’m thinking big and thought provoking and cool. Again, my inspo is perspective. My art can mean different things for different people, but I want to find a way to give the gift of perspective at my booth. I want people to know how important our thoughts can be and show how we shape our reality. Show them one thing beautiful and then show them one detail that they can’t unsee. No rules, multimedia.
